URBAN DECAY // Naked Smoky Las Vegas Ambush

To promote the launch of the latest Naked palette, Naked Smoky, we wanted to come up with a way to expose women to the palette in an unexpected and exciting way. I came up with the idea to set up a heavily branded booth or a van along the Las Vegas Strip to do smoky eye applications on consumers passing by. Consumers would have a chance to learn about the palette and then share the experience on their social media networks. The value to the consumer would be an exclusive look at a new product as well as a makeup look that they could wear to whatever adventures they had planned that evening. The makeup artists would also have a chance to cross-sell some of our core products (like All Nighter Setting Spray and Eyeshadow Primer Potion) that would make their makeup last through their crazy night.

While my original concept didn't make it as I had originally envisioned, they did end up doing a version of it where they ambushed a group of women in Vegas and treated them to an unforgettable experience.

We headed to Vegas and ambushed a group of women to give them the full Naked Smoky treatment. We hooked each of them up with a smoky nighttime look and their own Naked Smoky palette. Plus, we gave them access to our fully smoked-out hotel room (you'll see what we mean).
